A pet owner checked their pet cam, and what they discovered has left internet viewers in stitches.

The owner, who uses the social-media tag @kobe_chinesereddog, shared camera footage of Kobe, their 5-month-old Chinese red dog, in his crate and getting wrapped up in his blanket. The video has already garnered over 284,000 views on TikTok.

“I happened to check the camera in work as it gives us notifications; the blanket that we put on top of the crate to make it more cozy Kobe had pulled down so it was hanging over his crate. Then, a few minutes later, he had ended up wrapping himself up into the blanket,” the owner told Newsweek.

In the footage, the dog hilariously crawls under the blanket, which had slipped down the side of his crate, and ends up pulling it completely off. But, in the process, he manages to wrap himself up and becomes a wiggly bundle before finally escaping.

The owner said that, since Kobe is still a puppy, they keep him in a pen with his crate to prevent him from chewing things he shouldn’t or harming himself. One of the household works from home, so Kobe is not left crated for long periods of time.

The owner described Kobe as extremely friendly with other dogs and said they had been “obsessed” with him since bringing him home at 8 weeks old. The canine has already been on plenty of adventures with them.

Chinese red dogs, also known as Laizhou Hong, are a rare and powerful breed originally developed in China as guard dogs.

Experts at DDR Guard Dogs say that Chinese red dogs are known for their strength, loyalty, and intelligence. With early training, they can be incredibly obedient and easy to handle, though they retain their natural protective instincts. The canines’ impressive appearance and athletic build make them stand out, while their loyalty makes them excellent family companions when raised responsibly.

The owner added that Kobe is already showing signs of the breed’s intelligence and adaptability. They said how he loves to go exploring, soaking up new experiences wherever he goes.

Crate training, recommended by the charity Dogs Trust, can be an effective tool in helping canines feel secure in their environment. It creates a safe space for them to retreat to, while also assisting with house training and preventing destructive behavior when unsupervised.

However, experts say crates should never be used for long-term confinement and that positive reinforcement should be the foundation of training.

On TikTok, Kobe’s antics left viewers amused. “Accurate representation of Mondays,” said one user.

“The way I’d have to run home though haha,” commented Gee.

“Awww that’s hilarious,” posted Elaine.

“So funny,” added Eve.

“This is a very large blanket worm,” shared another user.
