Maine coons and cane corsi may be very different in terms of species, size and temperament, but one inseparable cat and dog duo who “think they’re litter mates” have taken the internet by storm.

The friendship between a cat and dog is bound to capture attention, but one Maine coon and cane corso pair has taken TikTok by surprise with their toddler-like sibling rivalry. Pet owner and TikTok user Jennasia Evans (@queennay.3k) shared the now-viral clip showing her cane corso, Kaine, standing beside her Maine coon, Khari, during the aftermath of some sibling mischief.

Evans, 30, told Newsweek that Khari “was definitely the one causing trouble” in that moment, all the while Kaine just tried to set maintain boundaries. After hearing the duo in yet another spat, Evans, who resides in Houston, Texas, began recording to show the entertaining dynamic between the duo.

“Khari was bothering Kaine while he was trying to rest,” Evans said. “This is actually a normal moment in our house because Khari likes attention on his own schedule. People often ask how my cat and dogs get along, and this was a real example of how they communicate with each other.

“They’ve grown up together, so they genuinely act like littermates. Khari is very confident and curious, and Kaine is extremely patient and gentle. Their relationship is playful, but they also communicate boundaries in their own way,” Evans continued.

While Evans was recording, Kaine began to whimper back in protest, as if arguing his innocence. Meanwhile, Khari—unbothered and stretched across the floor—simply wagged his tail. Internet users can’t get enough of the chaotic siblings. Since it was shared on January 10, the clip has racked up more than 264,700 views and over 32,100 likes at the time of writing.

The caption layered over the video explains that Kaine and Khari came home the same week as babies, growing up side-by-side ever since. Because of this, the unlikely duo “truly think they’re littermates.” Evans joked that both 2‑year‑old pets “act just like toddlers,” and this moment was just another example of that.

Evans loves seeing their daily interactions and observing the different ways they communicate. She said that Kaine’s vocalization wasn’t aggressive, but rather a warning to the Maine coon to give him some space. Khari, on the other hand, isn’t quite so loud, but Evans added that he talks back “like he has something to say.”

How To Help Cats and Dogs Get Along

While Khari and Kaine’s friendship is incredibly natural, experts emphasize that careful planning is key for most multi‑pet households.

Guidance from the American Kennel Club (AKC) says that puppies and kittens that are socialized with the opposite species early in life are far more likely to coexist peacefully as adults. Introductions should be slow and structured, beginning with scent exchanges, separated spaces, and positive reinforcement before any face‑to‑face interaction takes place.

Similarly, AKC Pet Insurance recommends gradual desensitization, using closed‑door introductions, scent-sharing, and controlled meetings to avoid unnecessary stress or injury. Dogs should have basic obedience skills before allowing supervised interactions.

These methods help pets build positive associations with each other, reducing fear, prey-drive reactions, and territorial behaviors. While not all cats and dogs will become best friends, thoughtful preparation significantly increases the chances of harmony.

With their growing fan base on social media, Khari and Kaine have proven once again that, sometimes, the most-contrasting pets make the best siblings—even if they bicker like toddlers.

“Moments like this show how important it is to let animals communicate naturally while still being present as the owner to guide and step in when needed,” Evans said.

The role reversal between the big dog and his bold feline sibling has delighted many, leading to more than 170 comments on the viral video so far. Many people were quick to defend the dog and insist he wasn’t at fault.

One comment reads: “Ma’am I think that dog is the one who’s in danger.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “That tail switching says mom look away.”

A third person replied: “The dog looks frozen in place & scared to move. I don’t think he’s the bully here.”

One commenter joked: “As an orange cat owner myself, your dog is innocent.”
