It happens to almost everyone; you accidentally lock yourself out of the house. Panic sets in as you scramble to find a solution—is there a window open, where are the spare keys hiding? But one couple showed viewers all you need is a furry friend to help out.
In the March 9 TikTok video posted by user @lucianmakeup, the couple stood outside the locked apartment unable to get inside. Neither one had the key with them and their Bengal cat was inside. That’s when it dawned on them. Instead of calling a locksmith, they recruited their cat to help open the door.
The two started calling for their cat, Aquiles, and lightly knocking on the door. The cat answered with a crying meow. They kept encouraging him by scratching at the door. Then before they knew it, the door clicked and opened slightly. They cheered as their cat saved them.

Viewer Reactions
The TikTok video immediately went viral with over 14 million views and 2.4 million likes as of Tuesday. The stunning trick made people want to teach their animals to do the same in case of an emergency.
Several viewers called him a “smart” and “amazing cat.” Someone else joked that he was meowing “I’m just a baby.”
One comment read: “The cat is the emergency contact for these two.”
Another echoed that of the three there, two children and one adult, meaning the cat is the only responsible one.
People found it hard to believe a cat managed to open the door, but the couple shared a follow-up video of him doing it again. This time the clip shows how he does it. The couple leaves and Aquiles starts pacing by the door. He paws at it and cries before eyeing the handle. He jumps up and pushes down on the handle in one swift movement.
This cat’s trick shouldn’t be too much of a surprise as many videos of felines opening doors have flooded social media in recent years. An article from Vet Explain Pets shared that a cat’s natural curiosity often leads to wanting to solve challenges and to felines, closed doors are a mystery. They are drawn to finding a solution to open the door or discover what is behind it. Plus, it offers them mental and physical stimulation.
Cat breeds like Bengals, Maine Coons and Siamese are more likely to figure out how to open a door, the article reported.
