A dachshund’s cheeky habit of pulling trash out of his owner’s garbage can and running riot with it has left viewers on TikTok in hysterics.
The miniature dachshund, named Bagel, was filmed wandering around the house confidently with an empty carton of milk, before taking it to chew in his crate. The video was shared to TikTok under the handle @bageltheminidax by the 2-year-old dog’s owner on November 14, and has amassed more than 137,000 views.
“The viral video was very unexpected as we just love to show his cheeky nature and what he gets up to,” Bagel’s owner, who is based in London, England, told Newsweek. “Not to mention his handsome little face.
“We wanted to show everyone how good Bagel is at ‘recycling’ as he never lets us throw anything away!”
Viewers online were able to see the long-haired sausage dog carrying the empty milk carton through the living room and to his bed with considerable speed, passing one of his destroyed stuffed animal toys on his way.
The post had been captioned: “The way he thought no one had noticed and just casually took it to his bed with him…”
“He’s forever dragging certain recycling items out of the bin and into his bed while walking past a ‘murder’ scene from his latest victim ‘piggy,'” Bagel’s owner said. “It’s the sassy walk and no eye contact that we find so funny.
“It’s almost like he makes it look like it’s his day job in hopes we won’t ask any questions.”
Viewers online have reacted with joy to the dachshund’s daily quest to steal an item from the garbage can, with many sharing their amusement at the viral moment in the comments.
“And the fluff all over the floor,” one viewer said.
Another added: “So cute!! It’s the speed he does it.”
“They have a strut when it’s something that doesn’t belong to them…I note the mass destruction…I have 4,” another said.
Another added: “Thievery whilst walking passed a murder scene?! The audacity.”
“Please that sweet baby was simply helping to recycle,” another said.
Another added: “I just know he looked at dad after the grabbing it away with such disgust. Ours does that to if we take something from him.”
