The New York Jets season is off to quite the pitiful start.

New York dropped to 0-5 after Sunday’s 37-2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. As if allowing 416 total yards wasn’t bad enough, the Jets fell on the wrong side of NFL history after the loss.

According to NFL insider Ari Meirov, New York became the first team in NFL history to begin the season 0-5 and not record a single takeaway on defense. A truly alarming statistic sums up just how bad it has been for Gang Green to start the year.

On the contrary, the Jets certainly aren’t helping themselves with ball security, as they have given the ball away eight times through five. games, the most in the NFL. Their turnover differential of minus-8 gives them the worst in that category across the league as well.

With players such as Sauce Gardner, Quincy Williams and others, it is hard to believe that New York has been so poor defensively — even more so considering the hire of head coach Aaron Glenn, a defensive-minded head coach that had so much success in Detroit as a defensive coordinator.

The coaching staff will need to take a long look in the mirror and see what changes could potentially be made to help get the defense playing to its abilities and helping secure the first win of the season.
