The Los Angeles Rams might be one of the most hurt teams in the NFL. They currently have players on both sides of the ball on the IR including wide receiver Puka Nacua, offensive linemen Jonah Jackson, Steve Avila, and Joe Noteboom.

To make matters worse, the team has also been without Pro Bowl wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Kupp injured his ankle in Week 2 and has yet to suit up since then. The Rams couldn’t afford to put him on the IR, so he has just not played.

With Kupp and Nacua out, the offense has not been the most dynamic. Backup receivers Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington, and Demarcus Robinson have done a decent job, but more help is needed.

The good news is though Kupp has been out for multiple weeks, Rams head coach Sean McVay has finally offered a positive update on Kupp’s return.

According to The Athletic’s Rams reporter Jordan Rodrigue, “Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay said Monday that a Week 7 return for star receiver Cooper Kupp would be ‘an ideal target’ but ‘by no means is that guaranteed.'”

Though Kupp will still be out for the next game, he is being slated as presumably returning in Week 7. The Rams desperately need both Kupp and Nacua back, and it appears they will finally get a chance to have one of their Pro Bowl receivers back.

Kupp has dealt with injuries the past two seasons that have hampered his productivity greatly.

In 2023, Kupp suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of four games for the season. He also missed the regular season finale. Despite being out for five games, Kupp still put up 737 yards and five touchdowns.

Kupp being out in 2024 is eerily similar to that of 2023. However, the hope is he can also return and make an immediate impact.

The Rams do have the benefit of having a Pro Bowl-caliber running back in Kyren Williams, who has now gone eight straight games with a touchdown, but more is needed. Adding Kupp back to the offense will allow it to change in a way that will help Matthew Stafford.

Stafford has not had the same weapons around him that he did in 2023, and the offense not being in sync has certainly been proven. The Rams are currently 1-4 and have not looked like they did in 2022 when they were also dealing with a multitude of injuries.

The good news is the Rams are heading into a bye week, and will face the lowly Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7. With Kupp ready to return then, the Rams might be able to rebound their season.
