The rest of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf players better watch out because Rory McIlroy no longer has the pressure on him to win the Masters and complete the career grand slam.

He exorcised the demons of Augusta National to win his fifth major championship. It was 11 years in the making, but now that he has made history, the competitor in him is already looking forward to the remaining three majors.

“You can’t win all four majors in a year if you haven’t won the first one,” McIlroy said with a smile to Sky Sports after he won The Masters.

McIlroy is often one of the most confident guys in the room, but now that he has checked off one of his biggest career goals, it seems to have freed him up.

For the Northern Irishman to make that statement shows he feels good about himself.

“There’s a lot of golf left to play this year. The next major is at Quail Hollow, somewhere that I’ve loved for most of my career,” he continued. “The Open at Portrush, the Ryder Cup at Bethpage — there’s a lot of golf left this year, and I’ve already gotten off to a great start, and I can’t wait to keep it going.”

Rory McIlroy Chances to Win All 4 Majors

McIlroy already has three victories in 2025. He won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Torrey Pines and then at TPC Sawgrass to claim his second PLAYERS Championship.

Now the 35-year-old has won at Augusta National, another formidable track the PGA Tour plays.

To win at three of the toughest courses in the first part of the PGA Tour season is something he has not done in his career.

The PGA Championship is at Quail Hollow, where McIlroy has had a lot of success with four wins throughout the years. He won the Wells Fargo Championship last year by five shots over Xander Schauffele.

McIlroy is very comfortable there, so many feel he could win his third PGA Championship.

The U.S. Open is at Oakmont this year, and the last time it was there in 2016 and McIlroy missed the cut. So, that might prove the biggest challenge. But he has back-to-back years of solo seconds in this major, so could it be his time to come out on top and win his second U.S. Open?

Then there is the Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club in his home country of Northern Ireland. When his good friend Shane Lowry won there in 2019, McIlroy missed the cut.

Can he redeem himself in his home country and win his second Claret Jug?

The world is at his feet now that he has conquered his demons, and it will be wild to see what else he does in 2025.

Could McIlroy complete the grand slam and take home all four majors? No player since the Masters came into existence in 1934 have ever achieved the feat. But only legends have come close, and McIlroy put himself into that category on Sunday.
