Six people have been killed in Iowa following a series of shootings that police believe were linked to a domestic dispute.

Police have identified the suspect as Ryan Willis McFarland, 52, of Muscatine and said the victims are believed to have been members of his family. The suspected gunman was also found dead from what Muscatine Police Department described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police received a report of a shooting at a residence on Park Avenue at 12:12 p.m. local time on June 1. Responding officers and emergency medical personnel found four victims inside the home, all of whom had suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said McFarland had left the residence before officers arrived but was quickly identified as a suspect. Officers later located McFarland on the Riverfront Trail near a pedestrian bridge with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers subsequently discovered an adult male dead from an apparent gunshot wound inside a residence on Mill Street. A second adult male was later found dead from an apparent gunshot wound at a business on Grandview Avenue.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
