A single mother of two was stabbed to death by her violent ex-boyfriend while she was working at a Skyline Chili, according to police.

Rick Wright, 37, is accused of fatally stabbing Alyssa Hill, 27, in the back Tuesday while she was serving customers in the dining room at the restaurant where she had worked for years in Norwood, just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, WKRC reported.

Coworkers and customers frantically called 911 as the killer fled the scene on foot. Hill was rushed to a local hospital where she died from her wounds.

Police later found Wright in a nearby bank where he was arrested and marched out in handcuffs, video shows.

“He walked out of the bank and was looking at everyone, just waving like he was proud,” witness Taylor Speigel said.

Wright was on probation at the time of the attack after he was convicted of assaulting a police officer. He also has prior convictions for assault, drug trafficking and robbery, according to court documents.

Hill was the primary provider for her two young children and worked seven days a week to put food on the table and help with her father’s medical expenses, according to a GoFundMe started by friends.

She had worked at the Skyline Chili location for years, according to Kayla Elliott, a close friend of Hill’s.

“She had such a kind heart and always seemed to know exactly what to say when someone needed encouragement,” Elliot told Fox 19.

“She was the type of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone else. Her children and family meant everything to her, and the love she had for them was obvious in everything she did.”

Friends said that Hill and Wright had not been together for some time, according to Hill’s childhood best friend Tessa Lowery, who said Hill ended the relationship after recognizing warning signs.

“She recognized all of the red flags just within the few months that they were together, and she left,” Lowery told WKRC. “She did everything right that she should have.”

Wright is charged with assault and murder and booked at the Hamilton County Jail. A judge ruled he be held without bail at his arraignment Wednesday.
