On Thursday night, the Dallas Cowboys found themselves in a competitive matchup with the defending champions. While they managed to hang around with the Philadelphia Eagles, they wound up falling just short in a 24-20 defeat.

Looking back at their shortcomings, many have zeroed in on the play of one of Dallas’ top stars.

With Dak Prescott returning from injury, CeeDee Lamb was a player with a lot of buzz around him ahead of the 2025 campaign. The two were one of the top QB/WR duos in 2023, and many awaited anxiously to see if they could return to form.

For the most part, Lamb had a strong night with Prescott throwing him passes again. He led the Cowboys in receptions (7) and receiving yards (110), but was unable to find the end zone. More notably, Lamb finished with four drops, one of them coming in a crucial moment down the stretch.

Skip Bayless gives his thoughts on CeeDee Lamb’s outing vs. Eagles

Following the crushing defeat, Lamb’s drops were a big topic of conversation. Among those to weigh in on this discourse was longtime analyst and known Cowboys supporter Skip Bayless.

During Friday’s episode of his new The Arena: Gridiron show, Bayless was in disbelief about what he saw from the Cowboys’ star receiver.

“If yesterday I had made a list of 100 potential reasons my Dallas Cowboys would lose at Philly last night, No. 101 would be CeeDee Lamb dropping four passes. Are you kidding me,” Bayless said. “CeeDee Lamb, my favorite player, the guy I always call the best all-around receiver in football, he dropped four passes?”

Lamb didn’t shy away from his play, addressing his drops postgame with the media. He took full responsibility for the team coming up short and was frustrated by his performance.

“Man, that was terrible,” Lamb told reporters. “I can’t point fingers at anybody else. I take full accountability and everything else that comes with that. As a player, I’ve prayed for moments like that, and for the ball to come my way. To not come up with it, it stings a little bit.”

Coming off this loss, Lamb and the Cowboys have an extended period to regroup and learn from their first outing. They’ll be back in action next Sunday, facing off against the New York Giants in Week 2.
