Alison Hoffman, President of STARZ Networks, appeared on stage at Newsweek’s Women’s Global Impact Forum 2026 on March 25 at the London West Hollywood in Los Angeles. She spoke with Kylie McCoy, Vice President of Brand Partnerships at Newsweek, about how STARZ built one of the most engaged audiences in streaming by centering women in its programming strategy.
The conversation explored the network’s early turning point with Power and Outlander, where audience data and fan engagement revealed that women were driving viewership across franchises. Those insights helped shape a long-term focus on complex, premium storytelling with women at the center—an approach that continues to define the network. Hoffman also pointed to audience preferences for nuanced, imperfect protagonists over idealized ones.
“I want a flawed woman who is working or striving to achieve something or to learn something,” Hoffman said.
