State troopers in upstate New York gunned down a 69-year-old gun-toting nut who opened fire on occupied police barracks during a shocking broad daylight bombardment.

David Levin, of Malta, fired off several rifle rounds outside the Saratoga state police barracks around 1:45 pm on Wednesday, sending troopers scrambling out of the building, according to a press release.

The troopers repeatedly ordered Levine to drop the weapon, but he refused.

“Levine refused to follow multiple commands and aimed the gun in the direction of the troopers, at which time the troopers fired their division-issued firearms, fatally striking him,” the release said. “Investigators have confirmed that Levine fired several rounds into the occupied state police barracks.”

Police said Levine was armed with a “hunting-style rifle.”

The fatal shooting briefly shut down Route 9 outside the stationhouse, with assistance from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, according to the press release.

State police have not released a possible motive for the incident and referred the incident to the New York State Attorney General’s Office for investigation.

Cops said there is bodycam footage but that it “will not be released at this time.”
