Finn Wolfhard has filmed his last piece of “Stranger Things” and it sounds like the young actor doesn’t quite know what to make of his character’s fate or exactly how to feel about it. In an interview with People, Wolfhard said he was “satisfied” but also “confused and sad.”

“I was so happy with his ending, and I don’t know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy,” Wolfhard said. “I felt like I was in a dream or something. None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect.”

It’s far too soon to even guess at exactly what it is about Mike Wheeler’s fate leaves Wolfhard feeling confused, but perhaps part of it is simply the shock of ending such a long journey. Wolfhard is 22 years old and has been part of “Stranger Things” since it premiered in 2016. That means the fate of Mike Wheeler is the fate of someone who’s been a part of Wolfhard for well over a third of his entire life.

Wolfhard is no longer just an actor, but a bonafide filmmaker. The “Ghostbusters” star just made his feature directorial debut with the comedy horror film “Hell of a Summer.” Wolfhard was working on the film since he was 16 years old, and in an interview with People earlier this month, he said he thinks – ironically, since he had to endure so many No’s, his age helped him get it made.

“Being a teenager — and just having a door shut in your face over and over and over again — you just had this blind optimism, or blind confidence, because you don’t really see what the worst thing that can happen is by sending a script to this person or sending a script to that person and trying to get your foot in the door,” Wolfhard said. “I think, in a lot of ways, being young really helped.”

“Stranger Things” Season 5 will finally premiere in the second half of this year. The first six episodes of the final season are scheduled to stream on October 10. The two final episodes stream on November 27. Joining Finn Wolfhard in the final season are Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Priah Ferguson, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, Amybeth McNulty, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Carla Buono, Brett Gelman, and Jamie Campbell Bower.
