Homicide squad detectives have charged a Sydney woman with allegedly murdering and dismembering her husband last year, NSW Police say.

Police will allege that Nirmeen Noufl, 53, killed her husband Mamdouh “Emad” Noufl, and cut up his remains after an extensive investigation that began with an appeal for the missing 62-year-old in July 2023.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command had been called to a home on Juno Parade, Greenacre, in Sydney’s west, following reports the husband had not been seen since May 2023.

Police immediately commenced inquiries to locate him, including a public appeal for information, NSW Police said in a statement released on Saturday morning.

During these inquiries, police deemed the Noufl’s disappearance suspicious, and detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Tannerie to investigate the incident.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested Noufl’s wife at a hospital in Bankstown on Thursday.

She was taken to Bankstown police station on Friday, where she was charged with murder (domestic violence).

With assistance from specialist officers, strike force detectives executed a crime scene warrant at a home on Juno Parade.

The woman was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Friday, where she was further refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Wednesday.
