Taco Bell is hitting rewind.
The restaurant chain is serving up the early 2000s with its Decades Y2K Menu, which brings back five of its most requested favorites of the era.
The new menu features the revival of beloved Taco Bell favorites, including Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, Caramel Apple Empanada, 7-Layer Burrito, Double-Decker Taco and Chili Cheese Burrito.
Nostalgic customers can get the items starting Sept. 9 — and everything will be a budget-friendly $3 or less.
Taco Bell is also launching the $9 Discovery Luxe Box to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Crunchwrap Supreme, featuring a warm tortilla plus Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos and more.
“No one did the 2000s like Taco Bell. That era gave us some of our most iconic menu items, including the Crunchwrap Supreme, which remains one of our best-sellers two decades later,” Taylor Montgomery, chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
“Fans have never stopped asking for these items, and honestly, we’ve missed them too. But Decades Y2K isn’t just about the menu,” Montgomery continued in the wistful message. “It’s about reliving the flavors, the fashion, and the fun that made that moment in time unforgettable – and letting our fans be the first to live it all over again.”
This isn’t the first time the fast-food chain has given fans a Baja Blast from the past.
Last year, Taco Bell launched a limited Decades Menu, featuring one item that each represented a 10-year period, starting with the 1960s. The Caramel Apple Empanada, denoting the early- to mid-2000s, is back again for the Y2K menu.
Taco Bell is also leaning into nostalgia with three limited-edition, weekly Y2K Merch Capsule merchandise drops, including an Ed Hardy collaboration and one inspired by digital watches.
They’re also introducing the Crunchkin, an in-app taco-pet that gives users rewards as they complete challenges.
Taco Bell Rewards Members can get the early 2000s fun before everyone else with access to the Caramel Apple Empanada from Tuesday, Sept. 2, to Sept. 8, only in-app.
Here’s what will be available on the Decades Y2K Menu:
- Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos: The legendary sequel to the original Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos has sparked fan petitions for years, demanding its return to the menu. The original taco shell is swapped for a Cool Ranch Doritos shell filled with seasoned beef, lettuce and cheddar cheese – available for $2.49.
- Double Decker Taco: Introduced in 1995 with an epic return in 2006, the Double Decker Taco is beloved by fans who have kept it alive through menu hacks and in-app voting. A bean-filled soft tortilla wrapped around a crunchy taco shell and filled with seasoned beef, lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese – available for $2.49.
- 7-Layer Burrito: The 7-Layer Burrito has lived in fan memory as the gold standard of Taco Bell layering. It is a combination of refried beans, seasoned rice, reduced-fat sour cream, guacamole, crisp lettuce, diced tomatoes and a three-cheese blend, wrapped inside a flour tortilla for $2.49.
- Chili Cheese Burrito: The Chili Cheese Burrito sparked a fan-run Chili Cheese Burrito Tracker to hunt down locations that still serve it. It has chili and cheddar cheese wrapped inside a flour tortilla. Now it’s back everywhere for $2.99.
- Caramel Apple Empanada: Since its debut in the early 2000s, the Caramel Apple Empanada has built a fanbase pleading for its revival. The crispy, golden crust filled with warm apple pieces and a creamy caramel filling is back for just $2.99.
