New court documents suggest that Taylor Swift and Hugh Jackman allegedly witnessed Ryan Reynolds confronting Justin Baldoni over the filmmaker’s treatment of Blake Lively on the It Ends With Us set.
On Thursday, November 27, People cited an unsealed exhibit in the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni, 41, and Lively, 38, which includes a timeline that Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios co-founder Jamey Heath allegedly sent to the director’s publicist in July 2024.
According to this timeline, Reynolds, 49, “unloaded” on Baldoni at his New York City penthouse on April 25, 2023 for allegedly asking about Lively’s weight. The Deadpool actor complained about Baldoni “fat shaming Blake,” after which Baldoni allegedly felt “completely embarrassed and apologized and even shared some tears,” according to the court document.
“[The] confrontation by Reynolds and Lively was so aggressive that Baldoni felt he had no choice but to offer repeated (and completely unwarranted) apologies,” Baldoni’s lawyers alleged.
The exhibit specifically mentions that Swift, 35, and Jackman, 57, — who are longtime friends of Reynolds and Lively — were “also present in the [apartment] at the time.”
Us Weekly has reached out for comment from the parties mentioned in these new court documents.
TMZ previously cited a source close to the situation in February who said that Swift arrived at Lively and Reynolds’ penthouse without knowing about the couple’s intention to meet with Baldoni.
“Justin was about to leave after the 2-hour meeting as Taylor walked in, and she was introduced to him for the first and only time,” the insider told TMZ.
Swift reportedly expressed her excitement about It Ends With Us to Baldoni “because he was her friend’s boss,” according to the source.
Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy and lost wages in December 2024. Baldoni has denied all of Lively’s allegations — and countersued in January, though his suit was later dismissed.
As part of her lawsuit, Lively alleged that Baldoni found “back-channel ways of criticizing her body and weight” while filming It Ends With Us.
“Lively was humiliated to learn that Mr. Baldoni secretly called her fitness trainer without her knowledge or permission, and implied that he wanted her to lose weight in two weeks,” the actress’s attorneys alleged in her lawsuit.
Baldoni’s lawyers later countered that he’d only reached out to Lively’s trainer because he’d have to lift her in an It Ends With Us scene — and he was allegedly worried about aggravating a longstanding back injury.
Meanwhile, Swift has repeatedly tried to distance herself from the case. Baldoni’s lawyers previously released a text message from the filmmaker to Lively, which referenced Swift in connection with It Ends With Us’ infamous rooftop scene.
“Was working on rooftop scene today, I really love what you did. It really does hep [sic] a lot,” he purportedly wrote. “Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor). You really are a talent across the board. Really excited nd [sic] grateful to do this together.”
When Swift was formally subpoenaed by Baldoni’s attorneys in May, her spokesperson insisted the singer “never set foot on the set of” It Ends With Us, nor did she make “casting or creative decisions,” beyond allowing her song “My Tears Ricochet” to be used in the film.
“She did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” her rep told Us on May 9, 2025. “She did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
Her spokesperson added, “Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
During the discovery process of Lively’s suit, Judge Lewis J. Liman struck down Team Baldoni’s attempt to depose Swift because it would fall outside the timeline allotted.
Us learned in November that both Swift and Jackman were on a list of names submitted by Lively’s lawyers for potential testimony at trial. Emily Blunt, Scooter Braun and Gigi Hadid were also named as people “likely to have discoverable information” about the It Ends With Us dispute.
Lively and Baldoni’s trial is set to begin March 9, 2026 unless the two sides can reach a settlement before that date. Lively’s attorney has confirmed that the former Gossip Girl star intends to testify during the trial.
