After back-to-back postseason appearances each of the last two seasons, the Houston Texans have failed to live up to expectations thus far in 2025, starting out the year at 0-2.
And ahead of their Week 3 game against their division rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Texans received a clear warning from ESPN Texans reporter DJ Bien-Aime, who believes that Sunday’s game may be a “must-win” game for them.
History does not treat teams that start the season at 0-3 very favorably, as only four teams that have started 0-3 since 1990 ended up making the postseason. And this certainly puts an added emphasis on Sunday’s matchup for both the Texans and the Jaguars, who both sit at 0-2 on the season.

Previewing the matchup in a post on social media, DJ Bien-Aime spoke candidly about what the game means for the Texans, explaining how he believes it would be tough for the team to dig themselves out of an 0-3 hole.
“A loss today could have a ripple effect that COULD make it tough to dig themselves out,” wrote Bien-Aime. “Not saying the Texans would quit. That wouldn’t happen. But cracks start to increase. That’s why I say must win.”

It’s certainly hard to argue with Bien-Aime’s message here, especially when you consider how great the Indianapolis Colts have looked early on in the season in their division.
While some potentially think that it is likely that the Colts will take a step back throughout the 2025 season, the Texans certainly shouldn’t rely on that ultimately happening.

Given the fact that the Texans faced two postseason teams last year, the Los Angeles Rams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in the first two weeks of the 2025 season, it is reasonable to expect that they could fare better in a matchup against the Jaguars in Week 3.
But as Bien-Aime alluded to, a loss on Sunday could certainly change the outlook for this team for the remainder of the 2025 season. So it will be interesting to see whether they rise to the occasion or continue to struggle.
