The Map That Leads to You certainly has the potential of becoming our new favorite romantic drama.
Directed by Lasse Hallström, the film is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Joseph Monninger, the tale of Jack (KJ Apa) and Heather’s (Madelyn Cline) captivating love story.
Fans are eager to see the characters of Heather and Jack brought to life in the Amazon MGM Studios adaptation.

What Is ‘The Map That Leads to You’ About?
The film tells the story of Heather and Jack, a couple who fall in love while she’s on vacation.
“Heather’s European adventure takes a turn when she meets Jack — sparking an unexpected emotional journey neither of them saw coming,” the film’s synopsis says, per IMDb.
Who Is in the Cast of ‘The Map That Leads to You’?
Cline stars as Heather, while Apa plays Jack. The cast also includes Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman, Josh Lucas, Eva García Montiel and Giuseppe Schillaci.

The trailer, which was released on July 15, 2025, shows Heather telling her friends that she has a whole itinerary planned for their trip, but it seems like they just want to let loose. One of the friends asks Heather about the guy who followed them outside of the train station (Jack).
Jack tells Heather he is keen on traveling because his great-grandfather gifted him a journal, and he is trying to visit every place that he wrote about. Jack later asks Heather to delay her plans to go back home at the end of her vacation. She chooses to stay with him, and they travel together, taking in new sights in different cities.
“If you take the wrong path, you can miss it and regret it all your life,” Jack says.
Heather once again ponders what will happen to her and Jack’s relationship once she eventually has to return home. The trailer finishes off with a scene of Jack and Heather that appears to take place at an airport.
“I’ve missed movies with this vibe, literally so excited,” one person commented under the trailer released on YouTube in July 2025.
“When Riverdale and Outer Banks collide,” another person said. (Apa played Archie Andrews on The CW’s Riverdale from 2017 to 2023, while Cline is gearing up for the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Outer Banks, in which she plays Sarah Cameron.)
