A three-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car believed to be entering a suburban driveway in Sydney’s west.

The girl was on Normanby Road, Auburn when she was struck by the vehicle about 2pm. She was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, where she was declared dead.

The 27-year-old driver of the car has been taken to Auburn Hospital, where he will undergo mandatory testing following the fatal crash.

Police rushed to the scene, where they remain hours after the crash. A crime scene has been established, and inquiries are continuing.
