Jacob Robinson had a good feeling about his audition before making his Hollywood debut.

“I loved that they were smiling,” Robinson, 6, said of the people judging his audition for the new thriller Drop in an April 2024 Instagram video. “Yeah, they were smiling a lot. I was like, ‘I’m getting this. I know this!’”

When Robinson’s mom, Donna Whelan, asked what he would do if he didn’t land the part, the TikTok star replied, “Well, I’m gonna get some more auditions during my life. So it’s fine if I don’t get it. But I will be angry a bit. ‘Cause I’m practicing so hard. Fingers crossed we get it.”

The comments section of Whelan’s post has since been filled with several fans of Robinson, who were pleasantly surprised to see him making an appearance in the recent 2025 film.

“Omggg! Sat down to watch this movie with my husband and all of a sudden I see Jacob! I yelled ‘Wait! Stop the movie, that’s Jacob! I follow him on IG. I LOVE this kid!’ I [haven’t] been here too much lately and had no idea. He was brilliant! ❤️❤️❤️,” one user wrote, while another added, “Couldn’t believe me eyes last night went the pictures and seen him in the film 😱proud mammy moment he’s going far well done 👏.”

Others, meanwhile, headed to the theaters just to see Robinson. “Went to see Drop tonight just so I could see Jacob! Loved it and loved seeing him on the big screen. Jacob, you were amazing! Congratulations on your success!” a third user wrote.

Robinson plays Toby, the 5-year-old son of Meghann Fahy’s Violet, in the thriller film. Directed by Christopher Landon, Drop centers around Violet, a widowed mother who embarks on her first date in years with Henry (Brandon Sklenar). While out to dinner, Violet becomes inundated with several anonymous drops to her phone.

“She is instructed to tell nobody and follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras will kill Violet’s young son and babysitting sister,” the synopsis reads. “Violet must do exactly as directed or everyone she loves will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.”

Before Drop was released everywhere, Robinson attended a screening for the film — and flashed two thumbs up for the camera. “Jacob at the Dublin screening of @dropthemovie @thechrislandon 🥰❤️ #dropthemovie,” the caption of the April Instagram post read.

Robinson — who was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland — rose to fame on social media in 2022 for his adorable videos and commentary. His TikTok account @keepupwithjacob, which is run by his parents, has more than 2 million followers.

Drop is in theaters now.
