Three months ago, the world thought Sunday would be Timothée Chalamet’s night.
The star of “Marty Supreme” did everything right at the end of 2025. He marketed the movie well, the film came out to almost unanimous praise, and his performance was lauded as one of the best in recent memory.
Chalamet has always been open about how he views the Oscars as his equivalent to a championship in sports, and the newly turned 30-year-old believed that Sunday would be his Super Bowl or World Series rolled into one.
Except, it wasn’t. Following weeks of Chalamet’s odds plummeting after Michael B. Jordan won the SAG Awards for Best Actor in his performance in “Sinners,” it came to a crescendo on Sunday.
Jordan won, Chalamet lost, and someone in the crowd zoomed in on the losing actor to try to get his every muscle twitch following the announcement.

While fans fought online over who should have won between the two actors, even Leonardo DiCaprio fans jumped in for his phenomenal performance in the Best Picture-winning “One Battle After Another,” Chalamet showed sportsmanship.
Overall, it was a tough night for the young actor and his crew on “Marty Supreme,” which left the Academy Awards without any victories.
“One Battle After Another” won the night with six overall Oscars. Right behind them, propelled by Jordan’s Best Actor win, “Sinners” walked away with four in total of their own.
