Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) disagreed with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent that the Biden administration’s lax vetting enabled the DC National Guard shooting before Thanksgiving.
Both Noem and Kent disagreed, with the Homeland secretary balking at Thompson’s choice of words that the shooting — which killed one National Guardswoman and injured another — was merely an “unfortunate situation.”
Follow the latest on the National Guard shooting in Washington, DC:
“It was a terrorist attack,” Noem informed Thompson.
“[Rahmanullah Lakanwal] was vetted to serve as a soldier in Afghanistan, and that vetting standard was used by the Biden administration as a ruse to bring him here,” added Kent.
“Had we followed the standard operating procedures for special immigrant visas from that individual, and none of the allies welcome, people would have come to America. That’s on Joe Biden.”
As many as 18,000 terrorists entered the US during the Biden administration, Kent revealed.
“There’s 18,000 known and suspected terrorists in the country right now that came in under Joe Biden’s watch,” the NCTC boss told Rep. August Pfluger (R-Texas).
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
