UK Championship Day 2 LIVE: Jack Lisowski shocks Mark Selby after Mark Allen scraps to a narrow win over Jackson Page

Si wins the past two frames to mean this all-Chinese affair could go down to the wire.

What a victory for Lisowksi, one of the best of his career. It ended with Selby leaving the last red on, leading him to shake his opponent’s hand.

Selby picks up one snooker as Lisowski misses the ball by a long distance and wasn’t far away from leaving a free ball.

Selby played a great escape from a snooker but then Lisowski pots a wonderful red, even if under no pressure, and sinks the blue as well. Selby needs two snookers to be able to force a re-spotted black.

Lisowski needs another red to take leave Selby needing snookers, but fails to get one of the difficult last two off the cushion and has to play safe.

Selby pots a precision pink into the same right middle Lisowski missed in earlier, but then he misses a more straightforward red. A real chance for Lisowski to finish things now.

Just the 42 from Lisowski as he hits the red into the near right middle jaw and Selby now can try to build a score.

A fantastic blue in and out of baulk to get on a red has now set himself up. If he can open the pack well, the frame will be his.

After a series of rolls into the pack, Selby leaves Lisowski a chance and he pots the opening red with the rest. And then he follows up with the black and a tough red. Can he build a pressurised break now?

Lisowski takes on a red after Selby’s break and just misses it, but importantly it rolls to a safe position.

But what a snooker this was from Selby.

Lisowski pots green, brown and blue to go one frame away from victory.

Selby slaps his thigh in frustration and well he might. He tries to play the yellow into the green and instead leaves it over the yellow pocket and Lisowski puts it away.

Selby pots red and black and will now try to get a snooker off the yellow.

Put in a tough snooker, Lisowski misses and Selby is halfway there to making the frame winnable.

Selby pots two reds and blacks and then attempts, and narrowly fails, to put Lisowski in a snooker.

Lisowski misses a red into the middle and Selby plays on. There’s maybe no one you’d fancy more at getting the required two snookers.

It has been another fantastic break from Lisowski, he just needs a red and colour to make the frame safe.

Selby pots a long red but misses the next blue hitting the near jaw and Lisowski now has a chance to make him pay.

Selby misses attempting a thin nick off a red and is made to play the shot again.

Lisowski twice misses after being put in a snooker, then the third time kisses the edge of the pack.

A magnificent pot of a long red from Selby but he is so close to the blue he has no colour on.

Lisowski with a fine long red but with the blue out of commission he has to go for a long yellow which bounces out but then drops in the middle pocket. With a bit of karma he is snookered from a red into the bottom right pocket and has to play safe.

A truly masterful break of 70 from Lisowski to steal the frame and level the scores.

Lisowski rolled the red in and finished perfectly on the black. He still has a little work to do to get from yellow to green.

There is just one difficult red left for Lisowksi, left on the bottom cushion, it could decide the framew whether he can shift it, or pot it, or not.

Lisowski hadn’t potted a ball for half an hour but produced a fine long pot and is on the brown to get back towards the reds.

Selby plays up to the baulk end after not getting himself on a red.

If Selby can open the pack successfully off the pink the frame will be at his mercy.

Snookered, Lisowski goes to hit the solitary red near the bottom right corner but only succeeds in knocking it over the pocket.

Selby is first on the table but loses position so plays safe to baulk.

A little bit of tappy-tappy into the pack early, before Selby is fortunate not to leave a red into the left middle.

Wu takes the first frame after the mid-session interval.

When Lisowski fails to get out of the snooker he concedes.

Selby goes for a long red which waits and waits and waits before finally dropping in. It means Lisowski now needs a snooker – and he is snookered for good measure.

Selby loses position after cutting a red into the left middle and plays safe off the brown.

Selby has slowed himself down. He is making sure of every pot – and it is serving him well so far. He almost loses position when going into the pack, but just had an angle to pot a red and keep going.

Selby opens the seventh frame with a fantastic long red and gets back down off the brown to the business end.

Lisowski ends up with an even century. What a match this is. He must have feared it could be a 6-0 defeat given how well Selby came out of the blocks, but now he is level.

Lisowski just a couple of pots away from levelling the score now.

Selby tries to force a red in to get on the black but it bounces out and now Lisowski has a chance.

It is an extraordinary table with all the reds in the bottom right 1/4 quadrant (almost the bottom right eighth). Eventually Selby pots his first ball of the frame.

Lisowski forces an error from Selby and forces a red, but can’t quite get on the black and leaves the cue ball on the baulk cushion.

Selby looks a different player to the one in the first three frames. He missed an attempted thin nick off reds and was forced to play again.

Lisowski loses position so leaves the cue ball under the bottom cushion. Selby replies with perfect touch putting it on the baulk cushion.

Selby tries a difficult long pot, a narrow cut at that, and leaves the red in the jaws. Lisowski pots the ball it to get on the board.

Si produced a break when he needed it, making an 80 to get on the board before the break.

Lisowski clears down to the blue for a break of 63 and he has reduced the deficit to one.

That was unexpected. Selby misses a regulation red into the bottom right and Lisowski pots a red, then leaves himself a difficult green with the rest but he pots it and now has a good opportunity himself.

A couple of fine shots form Selby, a green to get back to the business end and then nudging the other reds and getting on the black. It looks a good chance now.

That is what Lisowski can’t do. He misses a pink into the bottom right pocket and you would expect Selby to make him pay.

Back underway and after some safety play, Lisowski rockets a plant into the bottom right pocket.

Si is still waiting for his first frame in the match on the other side of the screen. He really needs the last before the mid-session interval.

A fine start to this match. Selby in scintilllating form. Lisowski needed that fourth frame to stay in the game – and he did just that.

They did not all go in! Selby thought the bottom one did as well, but it hits the near jaw – and comes closer to going in the bottom right instead. Lisowski pots red and black and should seal the frame now.

You’d have to say Selby is favourite now with the reds all looking pottable into the bottom left pocket, just above the black.

Lisowski tried to come off two cushion to go into the pack but is short of pace and left a straight plant into the middle pocket which Selby converts

Lisowski made things a bit difficult for himself potting into a blind pocket from the side cushion and though he sunk the red the white went in into the bottom right pocket. Not the worst result it seemed as the rest of the reds were in a pack. But Selby then plays an incredible shot behind the pink beyond the baulk colours.

Liswoski opens the reds superbly after potting the one at the foot of the pack and now has a good opportunity.

Lisowski begins the frame with a fine long pot. He has done little wrong so far but needs to make this pay.

On the other table there is also one player in command, with Wu notching a half-century to taking the opener and he also looks in charge of the third.

That is the highest break of the tournament so far. You have to feel for Lisowski here.

He gets a second ton. There is a possible 136 on the table.

He has clinched the third frame. Will he bag his second century? He’d be pretty big odds on.

Selby’s games often go deep into the night. This one does not look like following that pattern. He is just a few pots away from making it 3-0.

In the earlier game it was very difficult to split the pack from the black and, though Selby looks in far better nick than they did, he has a similar issue. He still manages to squeeze a red into the bottom left corner though and now the reds are spread beautifully.

He looks so confident Selby, rocketing a long red in to start the frame.

The two-time champion has an early lead. Lisowski will hope for a kind run of the balls to get on the board in the next frame.

Lisowski leaves a red over the bottom left pocket and that is the end of frame.

Right on the finishing line of the frame, Selby lost position nestling against a red rather than push it into potting range and it is the end of break at 61.

Naturally Selby finds an angle off a tight red to get back to the blue and he has a great chance to build another big score now.

Lisowski tried to play a plant towards the ball near the bottom left pocket but it doesn’t drop. Incredibly given the reds surrounding the white, he has not left a straightforward chance for Selby either.

Selby leaves Lisowski with a red into the middle which the left hander rolls in, but he is unlucky not to have a better option after going into the pack off the blue.

A prolonged period of safety with both players showing fine touch to give their opponent barely a sniff of a pot.

It was hardly a chance, but Selby was back at the table with a fantastic red into the left middle. He didn’t get position on a red though after a prodigious bounce off the side cushion and had to play into the pack.

Very surprisingly he misses the blue, but 119 is not to be sniffed at.

It doesn’t matter how tight the pockets are when you’re potting into the middle of them and that’s what Selby is doing. A possible 137 on the table.

Selby has now secured the frame and you would fancy him to seal it with a century.

Taking no time at all to settle Selby. He had to go into the reds off the blue via the side cushion and now looks favourite to win the frame in this visit.

Selby with a fine red with his first shot of the championship, and he got a nice nudge on the green to give himself position to get back down the table.

And what a game we have this evening as Mark Selby plays Jack Lisowski. We will also be keeping an eye on the match between Si Jiahui and Wu Yize.

And what a mouth-watering clash it promises to be as Mark Selby takes on Jack Lisowski on our main table, with potting sensations Si Jiahui and Wu Yize playing on the other side of the screen.

Ali Carter also got over the line against Ryan Day. He was pegged back from 3-1 and 5-3 up, but got over the line in the tenth frame.

This may have been the key point in the match as Page took EIGHT attempts to get out of a snooker, gifting the frame to Allen (and a 4-3 lead) when the Northern Ireland man looked totally bereft of confidence.

Not the highest quality game in totality but incredible drama.

Allen pots a mid-range green then a very good brown into the middle. If he clears up, he wins the match.

Page pots the yellow with a reverse double and has the lead as they battle on the green.

A very good long red from Page which wobbles but drops and now after potting the next two also he has the lead.

Page goes for a tricky long pot but the ball stays in the jaws. Allen has to come off the cushion to pot the red and then doesn’t get position.

The balls could not have been positioned better but Allen missed a mid-range red. A reprieve for Page who then misses a red into the middle and he is fortunate not to leave an easy pot.

Allen was let in to pot a red into the bottom right pocket and after a couple of good shots has a chance to at least take the lead now.

Once more no joy getting the pack to open nicely off the black and Page has to play safe.

Page gets things started with a good long red, and after he sinks a blue into the yellow pocket he plays an audacious plant then slams in a black with little margin for error too.

Great guts from Page there to win a frame which seemed certain to be getting away from him. From pub standard to world class in a few minutes.

Page with a wonderful long yellow into a blind pocket. He wins it if he clears the colours.

He was not perfect on the yellow though, but after missing the pot the ball rolls to safety.

A glorious positional shot to get from baulk down to the last red from Page.

Page produces his first good shot for quite a while rocketing in a red and now could get himself back into the frame.

Commentator’s curse as Allen plays a poor positional shot and has to play safe.

He is looking good to seal the frame in this visit now Allen. Just three more pots from the finishing line you’d think.

Page misses a long red and leaves Allen a red on.

It looked like Page might not get another shot, but Allen leaves the black in the jaws.

Page with the most awful of break off shots, he comes back off the pack and gifts Allen an opening red.

A break of 80, Allen’s highest of the match so far.

The reds are open and he will surely be just a frame away from victory now.

Page allows Allen back in and he is one good shot opening the reds away from winning the frame.

Opening the reds has not been easy in this match. Once more coming off the black things did not work out and Allen plays to baulk.

It is like the last frame didn’t happen. Allen was just the wrong side of the blue but he played up and down to baulk and has now freed up the black.

Allen pots a red and pink but it might be tricky getting to the next red now, off the blue.

Page is left a long red and puts it away before missing a long blue with tricky cueing.

Allen misses a long pot again to start but this time gets a bit of luck as the red bounces around the table before settling against the black.

Day hits a break of 52 to close within one frame of Carter.

Allen ends the frame with a break of 37 but most importantly goes in front in this war of attrition.

With two reds Allen has now won the frame during which he must have at one point felt about as low as he has in his career.

Yet another six points as he strikes the pink. It is 36 now and Page is 46 in arrears.

And he hits the pink once more. It doesn’t look THAT hard a snooker for guys of this standard to get out of.

Two more misses from Page. Allen has a free ball but he opts to put Page back in.

Page misses everything on his second attempt and third time round cannons into the pink once more.

Page misses the pack of reds and knocks into the pink. It could be a crucial six points the way things are going.

The break again comes to a halt as Allen snookers himself from the pink. He opts to play safe rather than go for a long blue which shows his lack of confidence at present.

Maybe Page’s fourth in-off of the match – and this time he does leave a red on for Allen.

Allen will want to scream as he fails to get position off the blue. Another very tight frame.

Page gets in front but then faced with no easy option leaves a red over the green pocket which Allen puts away.

Allen closes his eyes in his chair to try to find some serenity in the arena.

Allen boosts his rock-bottom confidence with a few pots but then leaves the black in the jaws when forced to play from close to the side cushion.

You won’t see much poorer snooker than this. Page misses another pot, before at last Allen gets on the board.

“I have not seen Mark Allen this far out of touch for a long time,” Alan McManus after the Ulsterman misses a long red by a long way.

Page also misses a red to the right middle but Allen misses by a similar margin, this time with the rest. Page then misses another chance, this one to the left middle. And then Allen has another miss by a long margin.

Carter has won the last two frames, the first with a 99 break, to put himself one away from victory.

We are level, with both players needing three more frames to reach round two.

Page gets out of the snooker but leaves the last red on. Now Allen just needs the colours down to the blue.

Allen pots two of the reds and couldn’t quite nudge the last one into a pottable position, so plays a snooker behind the green.

The reds are all around the bulk end now. Page missed one and Allen is now trying to get a break by potting the others.

Allen instead tried to break up the three on the left side of the table and, after getting behind one, missed into the bottom left pocket, but he doesn’t leave anything on.

Page misses a red into the bottom left and now you’d expect Allen to pot the last two open reds.

Allen goes for a long pot and misses presenting Page with an easy red. It won’t be a long breeak you wouldn’t think but he should at least be able to get in front.

Page makes a hash of an attempt at a very thin cut, missing the red and coming back off the bottom cushion. Allen pots a red but then just rolls behind the brown with little else on.

Allen had to play safe and now the table is very uninviting. The black is surrounded by three reds on the bottom cushion. We won’t be going anywhere for a while.

He plays a nice cannon to open the black up and then guides it gently into the bottom right pocket. Possibilities have opened up.

A loose shot gifts Allen a red but this will not be an easy table to navigate with pink and black out of commision.

Page pots the first red of the frame but can’t get position off the blue so has to play back to baulk.

He does love an in-off Page. Often it seems it is the least bad option as, just like on this occasion, it does not leave Allen a pot on.

Carter had the chance to go 4-1 up but he missed the last black and Day has now pulled level.

Page cleans up with another 34 to go in front of the world number three.

Page pots the last red after Allen just failed to leave the cue ball behind the yellow and the frame is now beyond doubt.

Allen with a fantastic second red to ensure he gets full value with the black from it. He then plays a snooker.

The red, played with the rest, stays in the jaws so Allen needs a four-point snooker to tie.

He lost perfect position but recovered with a good mid-range pot and a colour and red will put the frame beyond Allen.

He was lucky to get the opportunity but Page is quickly making a dent in the frame at this visit with pots in and around the black.

Page goes in-off but it’s not the worst result as with the reds all messily covering the bottom half of the table it was not an easy pot and Allen missed – leaving Page on.

Another poor shot from Page, looking to get back to baulk he ricocheted into the jaws of the bottom left pocket and was lucky not to leave on a pot.

Not for the first time it hasn’t been successful opening the reds off the black. Allen has to play safe. Page looking for a thin contact inexplicably misses the side of the pack of reds.

Allen pots a long red to start the frame, the usual beginning in this match.

Carter won the last frame before the mid-session interval to take a two-frame lead.

Page with a fine blue cutting into the green pocket and then the pink into the bottom left corner pocket. And we are level going into the mid-session interval.

A poor shot on the brown means we play on with the three big colours on the table and the frame up for grabs.

Allen pots a long red, guiding it along the cushion into the yellow pocket and now needs the colours to take a two-frame lead into the interval.

Allen lays a snooker which Page cannot get out of.first-time around. The second time he does so and leaves it safe.

Precision potting from Allen and he leaves himself perfectly on the last red but with the rest and playing a pot hard with backspin it comes back out of the yellow pocket.

Page takes on a long blue and misses it and Allen cuts in a narrow red to give himself a chance to steal.

A fine half-century from Page but he drifts a little too far down the table after potting the brown leaving himself a tricky red to keep the break going. He gets it though – and a nice kiss off the middle near jaw – so the break goes on.

Allen misses a tough red into the right middle and now Page has a chance to make him pay.

Page inadvertently pots the pink, which was left teetering over the green pocket, meaning Allen takes the frame.

Allen leaves the pink in the jaws meaning Page is still in the frame needing just one snooker.

Page misses the red on the first occasion and on the second leaves it on for Allen who is now favourite to win the frame.

Allen pots red and black and then plays a snooker on the last remaining red.

Allen gets out of the snooker but leaves the red on for Page, but he leaves it in the jaws. They are playing tight this week.

Page pots two reds and blues and then shows good game management by leaving a snooker, which Allen fails to get out of.

A good safety from Page drew a mistake from Allen and Page now has a good opportunity to put himself in control of the frame. There remain two reds on the cushion mind.

On the first occasion Page misses the pack for a foul and on the second, nestles into them leaving a touching ball and giving Allen the chance to leave another snooker.

Allen lost position when he moved down towards the remaining reds further south on the table, but ends with a good safety behind the brown.

Allen has a bit of work to do with Page having taken the easier reds, but he has slotted two of the three reds at the baulk end of the table.

Page should have potted the black but as Alan McManus said in commentary he lost the cue ball a little to stop the shot being a certainty and it wobbled in the jaws before bouncing out.

Allen plays a long red but it bounces in the green jaws and allows Page to get on the board.

The Captain has taken an early lead on the other side of the screen. He amassed an 108 break in the opener.

A break of 56 gets Allen the frame and levels the match.

Another poor Page safety gives Allen a chance around the black spot and he should make him pay on this occasion.

A loose safety lets Allen in a second time but he fails to get on the black after a second red and has to play to baulk off the yellow.

He’s not getting the luck at the moment. He went into the pack off the black but it nestled in rather than spread the reds and he has to play safe.

Allen again starts the frame with a very good long red.

A very good red with the rest down the left hand side of the table was the key pot to get him over the line. Another pink left Allen needing three snookers and he remained in his seat.

Page is just a couple of pots from clinching the opener now.

What happened there! Page smashed the cue ball aiming for the reds around the pack and ended up hitting the blue. Allen then tried a safety which left Page a pot. So that crazy bad shot may end up helping him.

Page with a nice pot off the cushion and black to follow but there was no easy red afterwards so he plays back to baulk. A good confident start from Page.

Page just fails to get the baulk side of the blue, so is force to take the green over the pocket and play safe afterwards.

Allen starts off with a typical dead-weight long red and the cue ball just stays the right side of the brown for him to pot the green…but he leaves the ball in the jaw! Chance for Page now.

Our main focus will be the clash between Mark Allen and Jackson Page this afternoon, but we will also keep a close eye on Ali Carter and Ryan Day.
