Unexpected star Bella Vaughn has the support of her family as she prepares to document her teenage pregnancy on reality TV.
“[I] just wanted to come on here and make a quick video. Our live tonight got a little wild there at the end,” Bella’s father, Kris Vaughn, shared via TikTok on Sunday, January 25, in a video alongside his wife, Falen Vaugh. “That’s not how we really want to handle things. But due to all the trolls and the women quickly being known as what I have to say on TV as the unscrewables, they are going to make season 7 hot. It’s going to be a hot season.”
While it’s unclear what went down during the TikTok live, some fans have criticized the family’s decision to document Bella’s teen pregnancy at 15 with her boyfriend Hunter, 13. (Bella has since revealed Hunter was 12 at the time of conception.)
“All they’re doing is making us the stars of the show and I got to tell y’all, my royalty check is going to be so fat,” Kris shared. “We’re going to be able to buy a lot of groceries, so thank you all. It’s freaking awesome and you all have a great night.”
Before the video came to an end, Kris reminded viewers that Unexpected premieres on TLC next month.
“Don’t believe everything you see on social media,” he added while Falen tried not to giggle.
On January 13, Us Weekly exclusively revealed the season 7 trailer for Unexpected. Fans of the series quickly met eight students navigating pregnancy and parenthood in their teenage years.
Out of all the couples, Bella and Hunter grabbed the most attention from viewers because of their young age.
In a separate TikTok video, Bella defended her parents and said they were not to blame for her teenage pregnancy.
“They have done everything for me. They support, they take care of me, they help me take care of my kid because I am a teen,” she said via TikTok earlier this month. “I can’t do every single thing right now, but they support me in every single way.”
Bella went on to say she “knew right from wrong” when it came to having sex.
“It’s not a parenting issue when a teen gets pregnant always,” she added.
As for critics who have questioned why Bella’s mom is so active on social media, the TLC star defended her parents for sharing parts of their lives online.
“My mom did not build her platform off of me being pregnant. She had a TikTok before that,” Bella explained. “I was six months pregnant when we started posting. And I only did it because I had people messaging me on TikTok saying, ‘I’m in the same situation as you, I don’t know what to do. I really need some help. Can you post your story? It’s really similar to mine and I don’t know what to do.’”
As the premiere date for Unexpected approaches, Bella made it clear that she’s less interested in the online chatter and more focused on being the best mom to her kid.
“You drama isn’t worth my energy,” her Friday, January 23, TikTok stated. “I have a baby to raise, love to give and a life to live.”
Unexpected season 7 premieres on TLC Monday, February 16, at 9 p.m. ET. Stream old episodes anytime on HBO Max.
