The Brazil men’s national team rode a 24-year title drought into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but don’t let that lure you into thinking the Canarinho aren’t a juggernaut.
Historically speaking, no nation has more World Cup titles to its name than Brazil’s five, with the most recent trophy coming in 2002.
But this 2026 squad poses a threat.
Yeah, Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, is injured and older. But Brazil has Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior, also known as Vini Jr., at its disposal, and he just put the other 47 teams on notice.
Brazil opened its 2026 World Cup campaign against Morocco at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Saturday. Morocco got out to an early 1-0 lead, thanks to Ismael Saibari, but it lasted roughly 10 match minutes before Vini Jr. found the back of the net in spectacular fashion for the equalizer.
Brazil and Morocco each came away with one point, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. As such, Brazil remains unbeaten (21-0) in opening World Cup matches dating back to 1934.
Brazil and Morocco are joined by Haiti and Scotland in Group C, and Brazil and Morocco are the clear-cut favorites to advance out of the group. Brazil will face Haiti at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on June 19, followed by the final group-stage match against Scotland at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on June 24.
