Premier Roger Cook is wrapping up a nine-day trade mission today, after leading an energy delegation in Japan – WA’s second-largest trading partner.
Clean energy and job creation was at the top of the agenda.
Cook said his biggest takeaways were that Japan and WA had a “big future in energy security, food security and defence”, that Japan wanted future fuels, like hydrogen and ammonia “but needs our LNG now”, and that when industry and government came together to promote WA in international markets, “we can achieve great things”.

The premier has toured a thermal power station and a robotics plant while in Tokyo, and was previously in Osaka and in China – the state’s leading trade partner.
“These trade missions are all about Western Australian jobs, making sure we build relationships which lead to transactions, which means we have further investment in Western Australia,” Cook said.
“China is our biggest trading partner, taking over 50 per cent of all exports from Western Australia, so obviously it’s important to continue to work with the resources industry customers in China so that they can continue to have confidence.”
Cook will be flying back to Perth later today.
