While Judy Reyes is excited to reprise her role in the Scrubs revival, she has one specific reason why she doesn’t want her costars to make guest appearances on High Potential.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Reyes shut down the idea of Zach Braff or Donald Faison joining the hit ABC series in a role that would have them in scenes with her character Selena Soto.

“That would be so weird,” she explained. “That would be so weird since we’re going to be seeing them this season [on Scrubs] with [my character] Carla. So no, not one of them [should be Selena’s onscreen husband].”

Reyes, 57, would love to see more of Selena’s family in season 2, though.

“She has children. I don’t think she’s married anymore. She could be a widow or an ex-wife,” she told Us. “So who would my ex be? Maybe Benjamin Bratt since I’ve been a fan of his since the beginning.”

High Potential follows a high-potential intellectual named Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) who teams up with the LAPD to help solve murders. She gets paired up with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata), who is initially skeptical about how Morgan can assist the Major Crimes unit but ultimately starts to rely on her. Selena, meanwhile, is head of Major Crimes and hires Morgan after seeing her promise.

“They become more friends than colleagues [in season 2]. There’s a freedom that Selena has in the relationship that she’s forged with Morgan in her not being an actual cop,” Reyes noted. “Where Morgan creates a space for a little bit of safety for Selena to just kind of relax sometimes.”

The hit procedural isn’t the only ABC show that Reyes will be balancing this year. She is set to film High Potential and then pivot to the highly-anticipated Scrubs revival. Scrubs, which originally aired from 2001 to 2010, followed the lives of employees at the fictional teaching hospital Sacred Heart Hospital. In addition to Reyes, Scrubs starred Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins and John C. McGinley.

“ABC has been really wonderful about creating space for me to actually do Scrubs. It’s a four-episode recurring arc — so that makes it very doable — and because they’re both on ABC/Disney, they’re working together to make it possible,” she explained. “So I’m very grateful.”

Reyes teased what fans can expect when the show checks in on Carla, adding, “I just got the script today. What I know is that Turk and Carla are still together and they have four kids. They still work at Sacred Heart Hospital and the three leads have three interns of their own.”

High Potential airs on ABC Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
