Women fatally stabbed in separate

Two women in NSW died on Saturday in separate stabbing incidents just hours apart.

A woman in her 90s was fatally stabbed in a Bondi apartment in the early evening, just metres from a busy pedestrian thoroughfare and the beach.

A 47-year-old man was arrested after police were called to the unit in Chambers Avenue about 5.15pm on Saturday, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command arrived and found the woman with significant injuries.

She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.

The man, who is believed to have been known to the woman, was arrested and has been taken to Surry Hills police station.

Earlier on Saturday, at a home in Kooringal, a suburb of Wagga Wagga, a 23-year-old woman was also fatally stabbed in a private home.

Emergency services responded about 11.45am on Saturday morning.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and police officers performed CPR on the woman, but she died at the home.

An 18-year-old was arrested at the scene, while police are still searching for a second man, who fled the residence before the arrival of emergency services.

All three people are believed to have been known to each other.

One woman was killed every 11 days in 2024–25, according to recent data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

Of the 98 domestic homicide victims, 46 were killed by an intimate partner, 52 were killed by a family member, 20 were the child of the offender and 21 were the parent of the offender.

Police have established a crime scene at both locations and detectives have commenced inquiries. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
