The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers have set their starting pitchers for Games 1 and 2 of the World Series.
Left-hander Carlos Rodon told reporters Thursday at Dodger Stadium that he will take the ball opposite Los Angeles right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on Saturday.
Right-hander Jack Flaherty is starting for the Dodgers opposite Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole for Game 1 at Dodger Stadium on Friday.

Rodon, 31, went 16-9 with a 3.96 earned-run average over a team-leading 32 starts and 175 innings in the regular season. He averaged more than a strikeout per inning and started Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Oct. 14.
Rodon will be making his fourth start of the postseason on Saturday. He is 1-1 with a 4.40 ERA (14.1 innings, seven earned runs) in three games against the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Guardians.
Although he’s never appeared in a World Series game, Rodon previously made two playoff appearances with the Chicago White Sox, one each in 2020 and 2021.
Who is starting Game 2 of the World Series for the Dodgers?
Yamamoto, 26, was the winning pitcher in the Dodgers’ series-clinching win in the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. He’s thrown 12.1 innings across three postseason starts, allowing seven runs.
His most recent start was also Oct. 17, when he allowed two runs in 4.1 innings in the Dodgers’ NLCS Game 4 victory over the New York Mets.
Although he’s never appeared in a World Series, Yamamoto appeared in the Japan Series for the Orix Buffaloes from 2021-23, winning it all in 2022.
Yamamoto also pitch for Team Japan in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He pitched in relief in Japan’s thrilling semifinal victory over Team Mexico in the game at loanDepot Park in Miami.
