WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has some strong opinions on the current WWE landscape, and he has now questioned the booking of one of the company’s top veterans, Randy Orton. In a new interview, Flair stated his belief that “The Viper” is being “underutilized.”
While praising his daughter, Charlotte Flair, as the best wrestler in the world, the 16-time World Champion put Randy Orton in that same elite category. His comments were made in a new interview with eScapist Magazine.
Ric Flair On Randy Orton
Flair was discussing the best in-ring talents in the business and made a direct comparison between his daughter and his former Evolution stablemate.
“The only person who I think is close to Charlotte, when he is on and healthy, when you think about in-ring timing and knowing where you are all the time, is Randy Orton,” Flair said.
He then questioned why a talent of Orton’s caliber is not being featured in a more prominent role. “Randy’s really underutilised these days. I don’t know why. I think maybe he made somebody mad along the way,” he speculated. “Randy’s not afraid to say what he thinks and that’s not always popular.”

The Ric Flair and Randy Orton History
Ric Flair has been a vocal supporter of Randy Orton for years, a relationship that dates back to their time together in the legendary “Evolution” faction. From 2003 to 2005, Flair served as a veteran mentor to the young, up-and-coming Orton, helping to guide him to his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship.
Orton has been in a high-profile feud with Drew McIntyre as of late. He recently teamed with the musician Jelly Roll in a celebrity tag team match at SummerSlam and was in a WWE Championship program with John Cena following WrestleMania.
The Queen’s Reign
Flair’s daughter, Charlotte, is currently one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Alexa Bliss. Her own decorated career has seen her become a record-setting 14-time Women’s World Champion, and she is widely regarded as one of the greatest female superstars of all time. Her father’s praise, while biased, is a sentiment shared by many fans and critics.
