Fans of hit TV series Yellowstone say they will never do one thing again after watching the most recent episode.

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Yellowstone, Season 5, Episode 11.

The latest episode contained the death of not one, but two major characters, giving the remaining episodes of Yellowstone’s final season a lot more tension.

The first death was not a surprise, given it happened to Kevin Costner’s John Dutton character. Fans knew his death was forthcoming following the actor’s dramatic departure from the show over rumored creative differences with Yellowstone’s co-creator, Taylor Sheridan.

But what they did not see coming was the shocking murder of Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri). The lawyer was brought in by a nemesis of the Dutton ranching family to bring them ruin, but ends up having an affair with John’s duplicitous son, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).

In the most recent episode, Jamie and Sarah have an explosive, violent argument over her role in John’s execution.

After their altercation, Sarah drives off and as she receives a phone call from Jamie, a seemingly normal looking couple pull up beside her to ask directions. But they were not lost at all, but rather executioners who shot and killed Sarah.

People watching the tense episode at home, said they had learned an important lesson from Sarah’s murder.

“Last time I roll my window down to share directions…” wrote @kjpierce3rd on X, formerly Twitter.

“This scene made me afraid to ever give someone directions again,” commented @KaraAll00960768.

Yellowstone premiered in 2018 on the Paramount+ streaming service and quickly became appointment television with a huge following.

The show follows the lives of the Dutton family, a well-established, influential ranching clan based in Montana. They run the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the U.S. The Duttons are shown trying to defend their land and business against multiple threats and try to stop themselves from self-imploding amid constant infighting.

The first half of the fifth and final season of Yellowstone aired in January 2023, but due to marquee star Costner leaving the show and the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last year, filming for the remainder of the season was put on hold.

Yellowstone returned to TV screens on November 10 and has one more episode to go, where years of family drama will come to a head.

Yellowstone airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount Network.
