Zach Bryan shared a cryptic Instagram post about people wanting explanations amid Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia’s bombshell emotional abuse claims.
The country singer, 28, reposted an image of the late author Jack Kerouac from his estate’s official Instagram account late Thursday, November 7, via his Instagram Story. The post’s caption quotes Kerouac’s famous novel, On the Road.
“I didn’t know what to say. I felt like crying, Goddammit everybody in the world wants an explanation for your acts and for your very being,” the quote reads.
Fans quickly took to the post’s comments section to speculate why Bryan shared it.
“ZACH BRYAN TURNED OFF HIS INSTA COMMENTS SO I CAME HERE 🤪💅🎀🩷,” wrote one person.
Another shared, “Maybe he doesn’t want to explain himself to the world, there’s always two sides to every story. Yes Brianna has every right to share hers but he doesn’t owe US anything.”
Bryan’s post came just hours after LaPaglia accused him of being emotionally abusive toward her during their one-year relationship while speaking on Thursday’s episode of the “BFFs” podcast she cohosts with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards.
Bryan announced his split from LaPaglia, 25, late last month.
“It’s not just for me, it’s for anyone else who’s been emotionally abused, it’s for anyone right now that’s been emotionally abused,” LaPaglia said on Thursday’s podcast. “It’s for people that don’t have a support system like I was lucky enough to have [while] going through this.”
“The last year of my life has been the hardest year of my life, dealing with the abuse from this dude,” she added. “I’m still scared of him, my brain’s rewired. I’m scared to make him mad. Last week I didn’t want to talk about it because I was scared.”
LaPaglia also said she refused to sign an NDA that she claimed Bryan, 28, offered her money in exchange for.
“I still said f— your money. You made the women before me believe they had no other choice,” she alleged. “And to take money from you, sign their experiences away, sign what they went through away, You get to go skip off and sing your little f—ing songs on stage like you’re a good dude.” (Us Weekly contacted Bryan’s representatives for comment on LaPaglia’s claims Thursday but did not immediately hear back.)
