90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Matt Branistareanu will not end up in the friend zone with Jasmine Pineda.
In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Sunday, August 24, episode of TLC’s reality show, Matt and Jasmine head to the gym in hopes of breaking a sweat — but not hearts.
“Mama, can I be honest with you, though?” Matt asks in the middle of lifting weights. “I understand you’re still messing with Gino and dealing with him and the marriage and all this divorce and whatever else. But I don’t want to be in the friend zone.”
During a March episode of 90 Day: The Last Resort, Gino Palazzolo realized his marriage to Jasmine was in trouble.
In a last-ditch effort, he agreed to an open marriage, but later expressed regret about his decision.
Ultimately, Gino has decided to move on and is exploring a relationship with Natalie. As for Matt, he wants to take the next step with Jasmine.
“Me and you get along well,” he says in the sneak peek. “I like you a lot but I’m getting to the age where I’m not looking just to date somebody for six months or a year, get bored and then run off again. I’m getting to the age where honestly, I would like it if you would consider moving on from Gino and maybe give me a chance.”
While Jasmine tries to take it all in without saying a word, Matt proceeds to drop a bombshell that could change everything.
“Mama, I don’t know how to tell you,” he says. “You’re my best friend. I don’t want to be the first one to pull the trigger on the word but I want to say that I love you.”
Although viewers will have to tune in to see Jasmine’s response, the pair continue raising their 5-month-old daughter, Matilda.
To say having a child has had an impact on Matt may just be an understatement.
“I never knew what it’s like to have a child and love something so much. I would sell every car and spend every dime to keep her happy and safe,” he wrote via Instagram on April 18. “Crazy to think in this world, there are people who only care about themselves and can walk away from a child. I’ll never let you walk the streets by yourself like I had to. Daddy has your back for life! God is so merciful 😭.”
