Tickets for the long-awaited Dawson’s Creek cast reunion sold out in just 12 minutes on Friday, August 22.

Dawson’s Creek fans jumped at their chance to attend the “Class Reunion” with original cast members James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson when tickets went on sale via Broadway Direct. The event will take place in New York City on Monday, September 22, to benefit the charity F Cancer and lend support to Van Der Beek, who is currently battling stage III colorectal cancer. Ticket prices ranged from $199 to $2,500.

Van Der Beek, 48, and several of his Dawson’s Creek cast members teased a reunion on Wednesday, August 20, when they shared a throwback Polaroid of Dawson’s Creek’s four main characters along with the cryptic message: “If we were truly meant to be, then we’ll find a way back to each other.”

It was later confirmed that nearly a dozen members of the original cast will take part in a live reading of the show’s pilot at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on September 22. (The historic Richard Rodgers Theatre has been the home of iconic Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Nine since it opened in 1924.)

“We grew up in Capeside and that’s a bond that will last a lifetime,” Williams, 44, said in reference to the seaside setting of Dawson’s Creek. “We wanted to gather around our dear friend James and remind him that we are all here. We always have been and we always will be. And I know the fans of Dawson’s Creek feel the same way.”

Joining Dawson Creek’s core four cast members will be Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe and Busy Philipps. Series creator Kevin Williamson will also take part in the celebration.

“I am so excited to reunite with James, Michelle, Katie, Joshua and our Dawson’s Creek family for such a special night. Dawson’s Creek changed my life,” Williamson, 60, said in a statement. “What began as a personal story about a young man and his friends navigating their way through the challenges of life became so much more than I ever dreamed.”

He went on, “[The show] created an enduring fandom and legacy all over the world. I am so honored to be a part of it and to support our beautiful friend James as we continue to navigate our way through life and its many challenges.”

Last November, Van Der Beek announced that he was undergoing treatment for stage III colorectal cancer. He said at the time that he’d been “privately dealing with this diagnosis and [had] been taking steps to resolve it,” in addition to assuring his fans that there was “reason for optimism.”

Van Der Beek subsequently shared in March that he’d reconnected with several of his Dawson’s Creek costars in the wake of his diagnosis.

“I’ve gotten in touch with them recently and it’s just been so nice,” the actor disclosed on the “Whine Down” podcast. “It’s just been so great to talk to them and catch up with, like, who they are now this many years out and to have that shared experience from back in the day. It’s just so lovely every time I get to catch up with one of them.”

Williams publicly showed support for her former costar in April, telling Entertainment Tonight: “We’re in contact, and he’s in our hearts and our minds, and he knows that. And we’re here for him in every and all ways.”

Holmes and Jackson are currently in the middle of filming a new trilogy of movies called Happy Hours, with the Joey Potter actress directing. The upcoming trilogy is being shot in New York City and will also feature Joe Tippett (Mare of Easttown), John McGinty (The First Purge), Donald Webber Jr. (Severance) and Nathan Darrow (Billions) in its cast.

Dawson’s Creek originally aired on The WB for six seasons between January 1998 and May 2003.
