A cat’s incredibly dramatic reaction to having a small amount of water spilled on him has left internet users in hysterics.

The unfortunate incident occurred when Brenna Rose, who goes by the nickname Bee, was spending some quality time with her housemate’s cat, Mr. Pickles. The 3-year-old cat was calmly laying on her lap, but that all changed when Rose took a swig of her water.

As she grabbed her bottle, Rose, from Adelaide, Australia, didn’t realize the lid wasn’t screwed on properly, and no surprises what happened next. Some of the water spilled onto poor Mr. Pickles, who was left absolutely outraged.

“I have a squirty bottle that I usually drink from, but it wasn’t closed properly when I went to use it,” Rose told Newsweek. “It was only a couple of tablespoons maybe that went on him. Most of it actually went on me.”

Nevertheless, Mr. Pickles was furious about the water, and he stormed off towards the other bedroom to sulk.

When Rose went to check on him, she found the cat lying on her housemate’s bed with his face buried between his front paws. Indeed, he stayed like that for “maybe an hour,” according to Rose. She’s still doing everything she can to get back on good terms with Mr. Pickles.

“I’m still trying to earn his trust because I really had to buy his love back. I replaced his dry food with the fancy canned stuff for a couple of days,” Rose continued.

Thankfully, Mr. Pickles didn’t stay made at her for too long, as they were back to normal by the next day.

While it’s often said that all cats hate water, that isn’t quite the case. Some cats may dislike it but not necessarily have a fear or hatred of it, while others may actually enjoy it.

For cats who hate water, this may be due to a negative experience in the past, the temperature of the water being too cold, the smell (especially a soapy bath with plenty of aromas), or perhaps they just don’t like new experiences.

It’s also noted by PetMD that cat fur absorbs water, so when it gets wet, it can become heavy and uncomfortable. Depending on how wet they get, it can also take a long time for cats to dry off, and they won’t particularly enjoy that.

After seeing his dramatic reaction to a little bit of water, Rose couldn’t resist sharing a video of the cat on TikTok (@lilcrumblebee). The clip shows Mr. Pickles lying face down on the bed, with the caption explaining that Rose “accidentally spilled some water on him.”

Seems reasonable enough to cause such a theatrical response.

The video has left internet users in hysterics, leading to more than 6 million views and 1.6 million likes on TikTok at the time of writing. While many people insisted that Rose needed to make amends, the caption alongside the video jokes: “I SAID I WAS SORRY.”

Rose has been blown away by the online reaction to her video, as she never imagined Mr. Pickles would generate quite this much attention.

She told Newsweek: “I pour my heart out and spend hours making TikTok videos and going live, but a five second video of my cat is what gets me attention? Make it make sense. Most people took the joke, and they related to Mr. Pickles. Plenty even gave me their own kitty stories too.”

The viral video has already amassed over 3,100 comments on TikTok so far, as social media users lauded the melodramatic cat.

One comment reads: “tuxedo cats are so dramatic.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “to be fair that’s probably the worst thing that has ever happened to him.”

Another person joked: “I’m his lawyer. See you in court.”

While one commenter added: “He is grieving his old, once dry life.”
