Heading into a season where the Dallas Cowboys look to get back on track, they find themselves caught up in off-field drama. As the relationship between management and a foundational player continues to wither away, one key member of the organization weighed in on the situation.
Still without a contract extension, Micah Parsons had the football world buzzing Friday with a stunning post on social media. He aired out all of his grievances with the Cowboys, capping things off with a trade request.
Things reached a new high Thursday, as Parsons missed his first practice since training camp got underway. It’s also worth noting that owner Jerry Jones was another notable absentee.

Dak Prescott weighs in on Micah Parsons’ disconnect with the Cowboys
One person who understands a bit of what Parsons is going through is quarterback Dak Prescott. Before he landed his lofty extensions, his representation also had a dragged-out ordeal with the front office.
While speaking with the media on Thursday, Prescott chimed in on Parsons’ situation. He, like many others, stated that this is the nature of the business side of things.
“At the end of the day, it is business,” Prescott said, per The Athletic. “We can’t make something business personal. I think when you do that, that’s where the division comes. … Once that business deal happens, you can move forward.”
Despite things looking like the worst-case scenario, Prescott isn’t close to entertaining the idea that he and Parsons won’t be teammates moving forward.
“No, not necessarily,” he said. “I think if I wouldn’t have been in his shoes, and watched other guys be in his shoes and get rewarded, maybe. But I’ve got faith in the Joneses and the team as I do in Micah and his team. Eleven is a Cowboy.”

As things currently stand, Prescott has no sense of worrying about the idea of Parsons being moved. Following his viral trade request, the Cowboys made it clear they aren’t making the All-Pro linebacker available.
In a key leadership role, Prescott is tasked with keeping the Cowboys focused on football and not off-field drama. Coming off an injury-ridden 2024 campaign, the veteran QB is eager to return to prominence this season.
