The unlikely friendship between a Doberman and a rescued bunny rabbit has melted millions of hearts online.
An adorable video was shared on the dog’s dedicated TikTok account (@jynxthedoberman) showing the Doberman’s “curious but unsure” reaction when the rabbit first arrived. Their owner initially thought they’d “made a mistake” in rescuing the rabbit, but over time, it proved to be a wonderful decision.
The clip later shows how the rabbit learned to trust Jynx and would even run over to him to play, meaning their relationship “grew from strength to strength.” They could be seen sitting together in the house, the rabbit hopping around Jynx, and even curling up together on the couch after a long day. Newsweek contacted @jynxthedoberman via TikTok for comment.
Their unlikely friendship has delighted social media users, and since the video was shared on October 16, it has generated over 1.6 million views and more than 204,900 likes on TikTok. Alongside the clip, the owner said witnessing their friendship was “the most amazing experience I’ve ever witnessed.”
Indeed, as the rescue rabbit grew more comfortable and felt safe around Jynx, she started to show her true character and was far more playful. Their friendship reinforced that their owner didn’t make any mistakes in rescuing her, as the overlay on the video adds that “they needed each other” after all.
Unfortunately, the TikTok user revealed in August that they’d sadly had to say goodbye to the rescue bunny, and were grieving her loss.
Dobermans are known for their powerful and energetic natures, but they are also wonderful family protectors. The breed tends to be very affectionate with members of their family, and the American Kennel Club (AKC) suggests that they’re also good with other dogs.
Typically, males can reach a height of up to 28 inches tall at the shoulder, weighing up to 100 pounds. Whereas female Dobermans are more likely to reach up to 26 inches tall and 90lbs in weight.
How Did TikTok React?
Internet users hailed the adorable friendship between the dog and bunny since the clip went viral. Their owner even delighted TikTok users by sharing more videos of the duo together.
Among the 1,200 comments on the viral TikTok post, plenty of social media users have praised their loving bond, and even shared stories of their own pet besties. Indeed, friendships can come in all shapes and sizes, as Jynx has shown.
One comment reads: “I just can’t … the way he snuggles her with his head and gives kisses at the end.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “This is straight out of a Pixar movie.”
“Omg that rabbit loves your dog so much,” commented another TikToker.
While one person responded: “I’m literally crying right now.”
