She said what she said.

Gender stereotypes have come a long way, but that isn’t to say that in 2026, some women are just fine giving up their careers to marry rich to never work another day in their lives.

In the r/GirlDinnerDiaries forum on Reddit, one 20-year-old decided to do just that. She described herself as an ambitious person who was studying to become a dentist, yet had recently had a change of heart and decided that life is too short to spend it stressed and working.

So instead, she’d rather give it all up and marry a man with money to live a life of luxury.

“… until I turned 19, I was very ambitious and passion-driven, I wanted to establish a stable career and become financially independent asap, but in the last two years of my life, I’ve experienced a sudden and dynamic shift in my way of thinking and being,” she wrote.

“I’ve realized that it’s quite literally impossible for me to achieve all the things I wish to, at least in this lifetime alone. My time here is limited, I can’t build a career, buy a house, afford basic necessities and also travel the world, buy designer and do as I please while also being under 30. Those things take a lifetime,” the original poster wrote.

As a result of having this ephiphany, she declared that she now wants to marry rich, have kids and “do as I please without working again a day in my life.”

In her post, the Gen Zer was self-aware enough to understand that whoever she marries will think they can control her, especially financially, “but something always comes at the cost of something else, right? That’s how life works, so here I’m trading a hectic, tedious working job for a more traditional one to ensure comfort and ease of living.”

Her hot take caused quite the stir online, from none other than both working and stay-at-home mothers who live to tell the tale that giving up a career for a man is not worth it.

“This is easily one of the most toxic mindsets you can have for yourself. It’s a one way ticket to depression and regret for the rest of your life. Nothing more dangerous than wanting everything without having to put in any effort,” one wrote.

“Said with love, you’re pissing me off. Respectfully, you sound your age. That’s ok! But don’t fall trap to ‘marriage and kids fixes things somehow,’” one quipped. “Kids are the hardest thing you’ll ever do in your damn life. They don’t make life softer or easier. And begin entirely beholden to a man who could tear away your whole life at any time sure as HELL isn’t easy. You are falling trap to tradwife messaging tbh…”

“If he can feed you, he can starve you,” added another disgruntled commenter.

“The only person limiting you is you. Dentists make an incredible amount of money. What you are considering is possible, but a risky gambit — if you can find a very wealthy man who wants to settle down with you, what if he decides he’s no longer in love with you and leaves you with nothing (maybe there’s no prenup, etc.) and then you’ve been on some nice vacations, have some nice clothes, but then kids to take care of and no skills to provide for yourself,” a commenter pointed out.
