Tulane picked up its third straight win and improved to 6-1 in the American with a 37-13 victory at Temple last week. Patrick Durkin kicked five field goals while Jake Retzlaff threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score as well. Jamouri McClure finished with 122 yards on 17 carries, with Shazz Preston catching five passes for 96 yards and a TD, and Justyn Reid also had a receiving touchdown. Jordan Norman had two of the Green Wave’s four sacks.
Charlotte, which is 0-7 in conference play, returns to American action after a 35-3 non-conference loss at Georgia last week. Liam Boyd got the only points for the 49ers when he kicked a 42-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. Grayson Loftis threw for 130 yards and was picked off twice as the offense had just 169 total yards and seven first downs. Ja’Qurious Conley notched an interception in the loss, which was Charlotte’s eighth in a row.
The programs met for the first time last season, with Tulane coming away with a 34-3 win at Charlotte on Oct. 31, 2024.
