KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s former finance minister Daim Zainuddin died on Wednesday (Nov 13), state media reported, citing his lawyer.
Daim served as finance minister from 1984 to 1991 and from 1999 to 2001 under former premier Mahathir Mohamad.
According to Berita Harian, he died while receiving treatment at a private hospital.
In January this year, Daim was charged with failing to comply with a notice to declare his assets under the country’s anti-corruption laws.
This came amid a crackdown on graft involving prominent political and business figures.
