A mom was left feeling confused and frustrated after her daughter’s first playdate at a friend’s house took an unexpected turn.
The seven-year-old had been eagerly looking forward to spending time with her best friend after school. But when her mom learned what really happened, she was furious.
“I later found out that the mom sent my daughter to her friend’s bedroom while they sat around the table and had a family dinner,” she explained.
“My daughter didn’t even get fed.”
“I thought I knew her”
The incident went viral on TikTok, where the creator shares situations submitted by followers.
While the mom regularly opens her home for other children to play, this was the first time her daughter went to someone else’s house.
“As much as she’s seeing her friends and she’s having people over all of the time, she’s obviously feeling like she’s missing out somehow because she was desperate to go,” she explained.
“Against my better judgment I said yes.”
She felt comfortable with the situation. The risk had seemed minimal.
After all, she’d hosted the child many times, and they’d been friends for years.
“I thought I knew her. That’s why I reluctantly said yes,” she admitted.
During the playdate, the mother routinely checked in via text to make sure everything was running smoothly.
“The messages I got back were very reassuring, to the point where I stopped worrying at one point,” she explained.
“I felt okay about it. I thought, “Do you know what, this is okay.”
It wasn’t okay.
“My daughter got given nothing”
When the mom picked up her daughter, she was shocked to see the youngster guzzling a bottle of water.
“I say to her, ‘Are you okay?’ She said, ‘I was so thirsty, mom.’ I asked, ‘Did you not have a drink there, babe?’ She said ‘No,’” she recounted.
She couldn’t believe it. “Not even with your dinner?”
To which her daughter responded, “I didn’t have dinner, mom.”
Her daughter explained that the mother had asked her to sit in another room while the family ate.
“My daughter got given nothing. Not even a slice of bread,” the mom said.
“I surely can’t be alone in thinking this is f**king outrageous.”
The comment section of the clip echoed her fury.
“If she wasn’t going to feed her, she should have called you to pick her up before dinner,” one person wrote.
“Any parent who does that is strange. Why would you exclude a child from dinner?” a second questioned.
A third added: “If they didn’t want to feed her, they could have asked for her to be collected before they ate.”
Now, the mom is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
“I obviously want to contact this woman and ask why the hell you didn’t feed my daughter when she was in your care,” the mother said.
But her daughter is urging her not to act.
“My little girl is terrified that it’s gonna affect her relationship with her best friend. Don’t wanna make anything worse for my little girl, so she’s begged me not to say anything,” the mom reveals.
“But honestly, this is killing me. What would you do? How can I not say anything to this mom who didn’t feed my child?”
