Sure, there’s almost always a hater or two at a wedding — but this “red flag” mom takes the cake.

Sam, a recent bride, is likely scooping out frosting from her nostrils after her mother-in-law smashed cake in her face during an awkward exchange at the reception.

“She said it was ‘just a joke’… I’m still wiping off the tension,” the just-married brunette captioned a clip of the chaotic scene.

Footage of the fracas, which has garnered over 1.8 million TikTok views, shows Sam playfully tossing a clump of excess frosting to her aunt as her new hubby cuts into their chocolatey confection.

But what was meant to be a sweet memory quickly escalated into a sour assault.

“My mother-in-law walks up, grabs the frosting out of my aunt’s hands and shoves it into my face,” said Sam in a subsequent snippet.

In the clip, the groom’s morose mom — who Sam claims arrived at the fête “already intoxicated” — can be heard yelling, “There we go … Set the tone,” while stumbling back to her seat after pulling the mean-spirited stunt.

“It was the first time we really saw this side of her,” a crestfallen Sam explained, adding, “both my husband and I were completely shocked and confused.”

The newlyweds’ befuddlement aside, there seems to be no limit to the viciousness a vile mom is willing to display on her son’s big day.

From dressing all in white as a way of upstaging the bride to “hiring goons” to douse the bride with red paint as she walks down the aisle, mothers-of-the-groom have earned a bad rap.

Even worse, however, are the grooms who fail (or are just too afraid) to confront their unhinged parents about the diabolical behavior.

And unfortunately for Sam, whose husband didn’t try to stop his mom from causing the cake mayhem, social media whistleblowers are strongly suggesting she call off the marriage.

“Start saving for a good divorce attorney now. You’re eventually gonna need it,” urged a commenter. “An annulment would be cheaper and less traumatic.”

“The way [he] just stood there and [did] nothing is exactly the behavior you can expect until the divorce is finalized,” another warned.

“Daaaaggg and your new husband cowered and let her? He even took a step back. Congratulations though,” added a sarcastic spectator.

“She’s mad he married you and not her,” wrote another, followed by advice that the couple go “no contact” with the woman.

“Imagine marrying someone who allows ANYONE to disrespect you,” said a critic.

The flurry of forewarnings was rounded out with some sage wisdom from an onlooker who reminded Sam: “A mother-in-law is only as powerful as a husband is weak.”
