New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara revealed that’s he’s been playing through both a broken hand and broken ribs this season.

Kamara, who signed a two-year extension with the Saints earlier this week, told reporters that he suffered a broken hand in Week 5 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kamara revealed earlier this year that he’s also been playing through broken ribs.

“Nobody is 100 percent in this league,” Kamara said.

Despite the injuries, Kamara has no plans to miss time. He said as long as he’s able to protect himself, he’s going to be on the field.

Kamara, 29, is in the midst of another strong season with the Saints. The five-time Pro Bowler has 438 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns to go along with 34 receptions for 252 yards and one touchdown through the air on the season.

The injuries seem to be hampering Kamara, though, as he has 31 rushes for just 76 yards and one touchdown over the last three weeks of the season. In that time, he also has 17 receptions for 78 yards.

Kamara was off to a sensational start through the first few weeks of the season. In Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, Kamara had 180 total yards and four total touchdowns. He amassed more than 100 total yards in each of the first four games of the season.

Kamara suffered the broken hand in Week 5, though, and hasn’t been the same player since. Additionally, the Saints have struggled mightily since Week 2, dropping five straight games and scoring more than 13 points just twice.

The Saints have been struck by the injury bug over the last few weeks. Quarterback Derek Carr hasn’t played since Week 5 due to an oblique injury. Wide receiver Chris Olave left the team’s Week 6 matchup on the first series with a concussion and didn’t suit up in Week 7. Additionally, wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is out for the season after undergoing meniscus surgery.

The Saints need to fix things quickly if they don’t want 2024 to be a lost season. They face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8, and then have a divisional matchup against the lowly Carolina Panthers in Week 9.
