The College Football Playoff got under way this weekend with some highly-anticipated first-round matchups.

On Saturday afternoon, the No. 10 seed Miami Hurricanes traveled to College Station’s Kyle Field for a CFP contest against the No. 7 seed Texas A&M Aggies.

The Hurricanes ultimately notched an upset on the road, recording a 10-3 final score over the Aggies in a grind-it-out game to kickoff their postseason campaign.

Neither teams’ offense clicked on all cylinders, but Miami quarterback Carson Beck managed a good game against the highly-touted Texas A&M defense. The former Georgia quarterback completed 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 103 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the victory — out-dueling Texas A&M signal caller Marcel Reed.

Before this first-round matchup between Miami and Texas A&M, legendary college football coach Urban Meyer publicly called out Beck for his “up-and-down” play throughout the 2025 season.

“I think this will be the most important game Carson Beck has ever played,” Meyer said during a recent episode of The Triple Option podcast. “Because he’s been up-and-down. I mean, the talent’s there. Every NFL scout and GM is watching this game to see if he can really be an NFL quarterback — because he’s facing an NFL defense.”

Through 12 games this season, Beck has completed an ACC-leading 74.7% of his pass attempts for 3,072 yards and 25 touchdowns. That being said, he also leads the conference with 10 interceptions.

Beck has multiple games this season with at least four passing touchdowns and no interceptions. But, he also has three games with multiple interceptions — including a zero-touchdown, four-interception performance in a loss to Louisville on Oct. 17.
