Lava exploded more than 200 meters into the air as Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted on Thursday.

A video of the eruption shows bright orange lava spurting from the volcano, with rivers pouring away from the site. The eruption began at around 11 a.m. local time.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the eruption has produced 3.6 million cubic yards of lava so far.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an ashfall warning until midnight local time for the southeastern region of Big Island.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
